The Open Championship Series will be introducing a new concept this season. The Open Championship will become an invitation tournament, meaning that you will be eligible to compete in the Open Championship even if you haven’t been invited to the PGA Championship or the European Championship.
The idea of a tournament for players outside of the main draw of the majors is an intriguing one for many golf fans. It may offer golfers a chance to compete without the financial burdens of competing in the PGA and European events while giving golfers a chance to compete against each other in the same category. The Open Championship should be a very competitive field of golfers that offers golfers a chance to compete against players who are playing in the majors for the first time.
There are a number of factors that might cause golfers to gravitate towards this tournament over the PGA and European Championships. First, a tournament format that allows golfers to compete in the same event as the major champions may allow golfers from the lesser-known events to compete in the event where golfers from the major championships are not allowed to compete. Second, a tournament format that allows golfers to compete in the same event as the PGA and European Championship could draw golfers from around the world that have not had the chance to compete in either of these events. And third, golfers will benefit from competing in the same event as the European and PGA Championships and an opportunity to compete against the best golfer from their country.

I’ll give a word of advice.
Whenever you read about “the man” in golfing circles you are going to run across this question. What is the most important thing that you need to know about a man in order to be able to talk to him? What is the reason that you are asking such a question? Of course, there are lots of arguments and reasons for saying a person is important. But there is also an objective measure and a way to find it. As I’ve been writing about the recent change in the head pro at the Westborough Golf Club, I decided to take a look at this measure by using the Westborough Golf website and some online searches to see what I could find. I’ve written about this guy before when he took over the golf teaching position, and I would like to give a word of advice about the head coach.
First, the head coach was supposed to be a man and this is a man who is not easily dismissed. He’s a man whose personality is a combination of a smart man, a very pleasant person, and a very experienced professional. He is someone who knows what he’s doing and is very knowledgeable about his craft. But, he is more than that. As he explains, he is able to impart the right amount of knowledge about a game of golf to the players, allowing them to learn from him. These words are well spoken, but they need to be accompanied by an effort to explain them.
He is well respected by his players, and he respects his players. This is a rare occurrence, and it does not seem to be an exception that I’ve ever seen. I’ll give a few examples. One player remarked on a match on his team that the head coach was never in his way, never came in to say “Good morning” when he arrived, never did anything other than listen. Another player, who had won a match with the head coach in a golf competition, said that the head coach was always “on the ball” and never missed.
