Red Raiders Open Head Coach Dan Campbell has a rather unique position: the head coach of a football team that uses computer technology. After a brief stint as a football player, Campbell spent over 20 years as the head coach of the American Football League’s Arizona Wildcats, and during this time he was a computer professional at IBM.
At the same time, Campbell was the head coach of the Red Raiders’ college football team. During the early 1990s, as football was declining in popularity, the Red Raiders’ football team was in desperate need of a new identity — hence the name of this article, Red Raider Football. In his first season at Red Raider Football, Campbell’s players were not successful, but in his second year, his players were. Campbell’s first season had a win-loss record of 5–6, and this year’s season has the Red Raiders going 4–4.
Campbell’s team employs a variety of defensive schemes that vary from the rest of the A. ’s top level of competition. The Red Raiders’ opponents often attempt to force turnovers with a strategy that includes blitzing the opposition’s offense. Campbell’s team utilizes an offensive scheme that employs some interesting formations and concepts.
Campbell’s defenses are usually effective, but his schemes are often misused if not poorly executed. Here we outline some of the Red Raiders’ most common defensive schemes, along with some of their most common missteps.
1 – The “Cover 1” scheme is a variant of the traditional “Movable Cover 2” scheme. It is also known as the “Stripes Scrimmage. ” In this scheme, the defensive end uses several formations while the defensive tackle uses six formations. This defensive scheme is named after the striped numbers that are used by the defensive end. In this scheme, the defensive end uses a variety of formations and blitzes when he blitzes the quarterback. This allows the quarterback to keep his receivers and to confuse the defensive end.
The key concept of this strategy is that the defensive tackle’s base is usually deeper than the defensive end’s base.

The computer gaming world came into the 2012 NCAA Tournament with a new head — and one with some baggage.
In a surprise move, Texas Tech basketball coach Bruce Weber announced his retirement after the Red Raiders lost to Duke in the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament. The move came a day after the Texas Tech team played a full game for the first time since 2006 during a tour of Mexico.
But while Weber had only a handful of players who would take the reins on the Texas Tech staff, his program had an even bigger roster. On a roster that features 10 players who earned spots on the 2011-12 Austin Clippers roster.
“That’s one of the best recruiting classes I’ve ever had,” Weber said on Wednesday. “And a couple that we were really excited about. And it’s the best class of our whole history, obviously. But you can’t ignore some of the players that we’re getting into this fall.
The Red Raiders return eight players from the 2011 recruiting class. Four of those players — senior David James, freshman Jaylen Brown, senior Zach Suggs and sophomore J. Davis — will play their first NCAA tournament game this year.

James earned Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year honors for his play last season, and though he did not join the NBA roster last winter, he made an impact last fall and has been a member of the Red Raiders top-10 rotation ever since.
So his inclusion in the NCAA tournament is big.
“Obviously, he’s the type of player that obviously, he’s going to be a star player and everybody in the state, I mean, they’re going to look up to him,” Weber said. “I’m just excited to play him in the NCAA tournament.
James averaged 15. 4 points per game as a junior this season and was one of the top scorers in the Big 12 Conference last year. He was ranked fourth in the nation by ESPN/USA Today and was one of the most coveted recruits in the country for the 2011 NBA Draft.
Brown, who averaged 15. 5 points and 7.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders will be looking to bounce back against the College of Business & Finance at the Cougar Arena on Thursday, Nov. The Raiders will be playing their final game of the season against the Cougars on November 7 at the Red Raider Complex. Tech may play five or six games over the next week or two.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming off of a 2-6 season and are currently a 5-8 record. The Red Raiders finished 2014-15 with a 5-7 record and were placed in the second seed of the Big 12 Conference. However, the College of Business & Finance (CBF) were ranked in the top 20 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll after the season ended.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools. The Raiders have not played an actual intercollegiate football game since 2009. The first meeting between the two schools was the 2009 Football Wild Card Game against the Texas A&M Aggies.

When the Eagles and the Bears meet at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday, Sept. 11, the most important match-up will be the one between the Eagles and the Bears. They might play each other twice (the first against each team), then head back home and practice until Dec.
The Eagles have won 11 of the last 13 meetings, including a pair of wins in the playoffs, and have reached the playoffs in seven of the last 10 years. The Bears, with a history of one-win teams since 2010, also are 13-21 ATS this season.
So, should we take the Bears, who have played in five out of their last 11 NFC playoffs or shouldn’t they take the Eagles, who are currently 3-4-1 and 3-2 ATS in their last nine games after a 17-31 loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday? Let’s take a look at the key matchup, then we’ll compare how both teams did against the NFL’s best team versus how well the Bears were expected to do against the Eagles in the first meeting between these two teams.
The key matchup in any game is the quarterback matchup, and right now the Eagles are clearly favored to win their division, as a 5. 5 point spread is the NFL’s largest difference between two teams in any contest. This is the second time both teams are meeting each other in the playoffs, and the last time either team has faced off against this particular opponent.
The NFL playoffs are not decided on the field, but on the game’s broadcast and the strength of the teams’ records. The Bears lead both of those parameters, but they have won more of the games that determine which team will be the NFC’s best team.
Ezukanma is clearly the favorite for the #3 job, but the Eagles also have the best record in the NFC, and their offense has the best defense in the league, having won three of the last four meetings between them. This could be a game in which the Eagles take the lead on the road.
