The Altron Systems communications architecture leverages a single standard to seamlessly connect any company or organization worldwide with one or more network hubs capable of providing bandwidth-efficient communications for each company. This architecture combines TCP/IP technology, a global communications platform, and a cloud-based infrastructure that serves multiple customer organizations using cloud-based services.

This architecture can be leveraged to facilitate the integration of multiple communications network solutions (including Internet backbone, Internet access, IPTV networks, voice, video, and data backhaul solutions) to create the global communications network for any company or government organization.

The Altron Systems global communications architecture is based on Altron’s TCP/IP architecture including Layer 2 (Transparent Interface) and Layer 3 (Network Layer). Layer 2 is based on the TCP/IP protocol family and provides high-speed connectivity, while Layer 3 is based on the Internetworking Technology (IW) protocol and provides the interconnection of data and applications over network technologies such as SDH, FDDI, SONET, and SONET/SDH.

TCP/IP uses a transparent link (also called a virtual circuit) as a network path to carry data between two points, and a transparent tunnel through which the link from the sender to the receiver may be broken or rerouted, thus enabling a data session.

Teraco secures R2.5 Billion in funding for the construction of the data centers.

The Government of Democratic Republic of Congo will now take the lead in the construction of the four digital data centers with an R2. 5 billion contribution from the Belgian state.

The first data center will be located in the district of Kisangani and is slated to start operations in the first quarter of 2018. This building, known as Kisangani International Data Center (KIDC), is expected to become the center for the entire Congo. The second data center is scheduled to be built in Kisangani and will have four data rooms (three in the basement, and one in the ground floor) and will have a total of 12 rooms, 5 of which will be dedicated to the storage and processing of IT-related information and two to the administrative offices.

The third center is a project of the Digital Africa program of the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The project is in charge of the development and maintenance of the country’s national network of over 250 government offices. The company will build and operate the data center through a consortium of three partners: Belgium Development Bank, Bank for Agricultural Development of the Congo and GISI Consulting.

According to the company, the overall cost per computer of the data center is estimated at R10,000. Each computer will be equipped with two 256 gigabytes (GB) of memory, 64GB of hard disk capacity, a dual port gigabit network interface card and an 8G fiber channel connection. The company claims that the data center will provide customers with up to 1,000 simultaneous CPU’s with the ability to process more than 250,000 requests per second. “Through our R2. 5 billion contribution, Teraco will become the center for the entire Congo and will become a leading provider of IT infrastructure solutions,” explained Philippe Douay.

The project has gained the support of civil society organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations Development Program and the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program.

There are many, and they can be daunting to even the most seasoned NAs. Here, I will attempt to give you a good overview of the tools that are out there to help you deal with the complexities such as TCP/IP, UNIX, and so on. This will be a quick, but very informational post. There are many more sources out there, so, as always, get to know your tool.

Many of these are very good, but in time, they are going to become outdated. Therefore, I have decided that this is the time for this post to get outdated and have a different point of view to present.
