Five Tips for Success for Teens

“You know you’re in trouble when the kids are throwing the things on the ground. ” That’s what you might’ve heard before. You’ve seen kids throwing things, like candy, and sometimes when you’re watching them, it seems like no one wants to give them another chance.

For many it’s a frustrating time.

But to give them a second chance, to give them a chance to be kids like everyone else, it’s up to you.

Here are five tips for success.

Set a great example. Kids know it’s hard to be young. But they’ve got to learn young how to do things. And, after a while, when that hard time comes again, they’ll be ready.

Be positive. You’ve got to take action, just like they do. That’s the difference between a teenager who is discouraged by the situation and one who’s determined to be young. Think about it — many kids don’t make good choices because they’re afraid they’ll be punished.

It’s not easy, but there are things that you can do to make a difference in their lives. You just have to be willing to see it and do it.

Help them be better.

That’s what you’ve been told. But it’s the truth: Your job as a parent is to provide them with the best possible start. And you have to believe in them and help them develop a strong self-concept.

Use role-play to help them work through their emotions.

“It’s good not to be the one who gives in,” says Andrea Shipp, a mom of two who works with teens ages 16 to 21. “But most of the time, you’re the guy holding them back.

Role-play helps you do that. “It takes some of the pressure off,” Shipp says, “and the kids who play pretend become more confident about themselves.

“We’re going to be doing a lot of new things. We’re going to be incorporating more musical things that are not conventional rock with the goal of bringing it on the stage and being able to make it fun for the audience to listen back. You’ll find that all types of music that people would normally listen to, but no one would listen to would be brought on the stage. This is a very different approach. It’s not just one or two bands; it’s an array of musical things that are going to be heard at the festival.

Jazz will feature a free jazz night.

John Bricker said the festival was going to be a mix of classical, pop, jazz, blues, folk, rock, and other genres. He said the lineup of artists going is full and includes some artists from the Boston area as well as from New England. He also said those attending the free jazz, will be able to listen to music from an eclectic range of artists as well. The free jazz will be spread out over two nights, with two different sets of artists, in the second night.

The lineup for the free jazz will be a mix of jazz, contemporary and folk artists and a band that would be at the forefront of the jazz field.

YEAH! A Girls'Club for the Arts

YEAH! A Girls’Club for the Arts

I am going to start by saying the “art” in arts programming is not art, but as I was talking to someone earlier, it does involve art. You take an art form that you see out there for example a dance class that’s kind of “what it is”. You take that and you go and create a class that is more like an arts class. The art form becomes a part of your work and it becomes your art form. It’s all about art.

So if you’ve seen my videos I’m going to give you a little explanation about the art form.

You take that dance class and you go and write your class. You take them all the way down and you look at the kids, you take them through your class, it’s not a textbook, so the kids need to work with other people who they have to learn with. They need to work at their own pace, it’s a class, so it has its own personality and it’s its own pace, so you write your class. And once you get through your class, then you get your class, and you take them through it again, another class, again, another class, and that’s part of the process, you write it all down. You take the art form and you make it your class or it becomes more of a part of your art form.

The process is the art form goes through all these different classes. You take the arts form, you teach it, you take that art form to whatever level you’re teaching it. You take it to the next level and so on.

So in your first class you might teach kindergarten, you might teach second grade. But once you’ve taken that art form to the next level, you might teach high school. If you teach high school, once you’ve done all your classes to the high school level, you might go and teach college. If you go to college, once you’ve taken all your classes and you’ve taken your art form down to the college level, you might take it to the next level. So you can go back and forth between that art form and that art form.

Tips of the Day in Programming

In the days following my announcement that I was retiring from Google Code I had the pleasure of seeing the course of my Google Code training run for the first time. I am very grateful for the opportunity! I learned a lot of things I had not seen before and I’ve had some amazing experiences! I’m excited about the next steps in my career in Google.
