There is the infamous “Easter Egg” where the game developer accidentally reveals the ending of the previous game as a hidden Easter egg. The developers and players often use this to their advantage as well as to make the game exciting and engaging to play or view.

This is a rule that is common even in the case of games with strong story lines. Games where there can be a “bad ending” can be a bit more tricky in this category, however. The developer often has options in the new game’s story to explore and change up the story.
