New to Sunday’s TV The Street: 7 Interviews with Companies and their representatives.

Article Title: New to Sunday’s TV The Street: 7 Interviews with Companies and their representatives | Network Security. Full Article Text: On a Monday morning, on the opening day of the TV season, we spoke to representatives of several companies, each of them with a different focus. The following were interviews with representatives of IBM, IBM’s Security Division, the Cyber Defense Council, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. All interviews were conducted by one of our production crews.

Paul, welcome to the show. I understand you’re a retired CSCI (Cyber Crime and Security International) member. That’s fine, thanks.

Paul Harnett – Yeah, that’s exactly right.

Paul Harnett – Yeah, I guess I should just start with the very early days that it is. I was a CSCI member in 1989. I was a member from 1989 to 1997. And then I was a member from 1997 to 2002.

Paul, tell me a bit about your career there.

Paul Harnett – So, the first thing I do is I’m an entrepreneur. I just like to go to the Internet to play with technology or be in the field I’m in. And I’ve enjoyed that, particularly because I like playing with technology and getting involved in something that’s of personal interest to me. What I think is of personal interest is to get some input to the government from the private sector or private entities. And the first entity I worked for, I think, was a company called Cyber Command in the early 1990s. And what it did was to protect the United States government and the Department of Defense from attacks and the various attacks that were being mounted on the United States on a massive scale.

So, that’s the company I worked for. And we did that for an extended period of time. And that was in the late 1990s until 2002. And then I started a different company called the Cyber Defense Council, which was a security consulting company that was a part of the Defense Information Systems Security Agency (DISSA) in 2001. We essentially represented and managed the cyber defense efforts as opposed to the cyber security efforts.
