Acquisition of One Moon Scientific Corp.

I am very pleased to provide a link to the original publication of this work. The original publication is presented below, which I believe is the most up-to-date version of the article.

Background: One Moon has been in the corporate ownership of Moon County in New Mexico since 1972. Prior to that time, the land’s first land deal with the State of New Mexico had been executed in 1968.

Objective: To gain a better understanding of the land dealings of One Moon Scientific Corp. through the acquisition of the New Mexico land in 1972, as well as the New Mexico land itself over the course of 1972-1973, including in New Mexico, and the land as it appears today.

Methods: We used several sources of information to study the land dealings of One Moon Scientific Corp. , including interviews with former employees of One Moon Scientific Corp. and the State of New Mexico.

Results: Over the course of 1972-1973, One Moon Scientific Corp. acquired 1,300 acres of land in New Mexico, beginning in March 1972, and acquired additional land as it appeared in July 1973.

Conclusion: The acquisition of 1,300 acres of land by One Moon Scientific Corp. was a substantial expenditure of one of the most significant land deals of the 1980s.
