The most difficult part of this task is the fact that, in the case of software companies, the problems can be very difficult to spot due to many reasons. I think that many of my favorite people from the SQL Server 2000 team were now in the SQL Server 2008 team, and I am looking forward to seeing how those folks end up playing in one of the worlds largest SQL Server user communities.
