Some HomePod are broken by software updates. On this blog, I show how to fix the issues with HomePod.

“We’ve been updating our device for several months now. In the past, we have had issues with some devices crashing from software incompatibility, but it was all rooted out in a quick operation. The problem was fixed in the last update, but now we’re hearing that more are broken.

For home audio gear, Apple HomePod is one of the most popular devices due to affordable pricing, a sleek design, a solid set of hardware, and a well-rounded software experience. Some models can be purchased pre-loaded with Apple’s latest software, and others are available with new software only.

I’m hearing from people that the issue is occurring more often.

Apple’s fix for this issue, AppleCare+, has so far been working for a limited number of devices. Some phones aren’t able to update their software, so the only option they have is to return the phone to the Apple store.

In the case of your broken HomePod, you can send the device back for a new one and then you can update it manually.

Reset your device to factory settings.

Reboot the phone.

If your phone is rooted, or has some other way to restore factory settings, you can do it manually.

However, this may not fix the root cause. However, rebooting the phone, resetting the device back to factory settings, and then booting into iOS may be a better option.
