In February of 2012 at a regional technology summit in Atlanta, Georgia, The Blackboard Institute and Digital Media Foundation announced a vision for a school that “helps create and empower a community that works together to bring its best, brightest minds together in a digital community where everyone works in unison to solve pressing problems and push the boundaries of innovation and technology.

The Blackboard Institute, previously known as BBi, was established by Bill Gates in 1985 as the first African American-run technology school in the United States. Today, BBi’s mission is to increase student achievement, support critical thinking and problem solving, and promote healthy relationships within and between schools and campuses. The new vision for the school, the organization announced at the summit, is to “… build strong and sustainable programs that empower and inspire students to succeed in a global economy by helping them create and build a community that works together to solve pressing problems and push the boundaries of innovation and technology.

A “school that works together” means that the students not only learn together but also work together to solve problems. That’s what happens when kids put their minds together to build a better community.

To help make all those ideas concrete, BBi hosted a summit last week that brought together some of the world’s leading thinkers and innovators at the Blackboard Institute. A panel composed of Bill Gates, Bill Nye, the creators of the popular TED Talks videos, and former chief technology officer of HP Ken Segall gave attendees a tour of the Blackboard Institute building as well as some of the school’s facilities and classrooms.

One of the more interesting panels was the one where Bill Gates was asked to answer five of his biggest concerns about the world today. As one of the keynote speakers, he was in a room full of the brightest minds in the business world. He was asked about the ways that technology is changing education right now.

Article Title: A Giving Heart Project to provide safe online learning environments for students in the Charlotte area | Programming. Full Article Text: If anyone is considering donating to the Charlotte Public Library in support of a Giving Heart Project, it makes a lot of sense. As one of the most important places in which to learn, the library stands out in the community. At the same time, however, we must give consideration to the fact that it’s a community in name only. What the community really lacks is an essential part of that community. The library is unique in that it serves a very important role that helps to ensure the continued education and health of all young adults in Charlotte. Through the Giving Heart Project, we are hoping to create safe spaces for learning so that kids from all backgrounds in Charlotte can learn while having fun. But that requires more in the way of funding than I have the ability to give just yet.

The fact is that donating any amount to this library would make a tremendous difference and help to ensure that the library continues to serve both the community and its patrons in a safe way. The library is still in need of a major expansion, and a large grant from the City of Charlotte is only one of many pieces of the puzzle.

The Giving Heart Project is a four-year grant funded by the Charles and Barbara Moore Foundation and Charlotte. The organization is named for two Charlotte natives: Barbara and Charles Moore. Barbara is the first African American woman to hold the position of president of the local branch of the American Legion since 1971. Charles was a World War I veteran and later served in the US House of Representatives.

The Giving Heart Project is seeking $15,000 for four years in funding from the Charles and Barbara Moore Foundation. The goal is to serve as a conduit between the students and other non-profit organizations or charities. The organization has already been able to raise funding for a year or so by selling T-shirts, flyers, brochures, and other resources. The foundation is offering to match its total, but if you would like to help the Charlotte Public Library, you can donate your own funds here.

This program is only $1500. If you would like to make a pledge on the Giving Heart Project page, you can do so.

I have been asked to answer a question that has been in my mind for a long time. It is a question that I’ve been asked time and again since I started the Foundation over 10 years ago now. I have always said no. I don’t know. I don’t know. (Laughing) I have never known what the answer is (Laughing).

I was asked by a friend that I’ve known for several years who’s now an adult in his 60’s. He had recently passed the Foundation and was concerned that the Foundation was not giving youth the opportunity to build community and improve their lives. With this being said, I had to weigh in on one of the most important conversations I had this past summer with my youngest niece.

Myrtis is the youngest of eight sisters and one of two daughters. One of her sisters is deceased. As I’ve become more familiar with the Foundation and my family, it has been very rewarding. It’s been a privilege to have them as my family. I feel that my family is well-rounded. My children are well-rounded. My niece is well-rounded. Myrtis is well-rounded.

Niece: You know, I just don’t know if that’s the foundation for the kids. They all have the same thing.

Me: Yeah, I’ve been there.

Tips of the Day in Programming

A variable is a data variable that can be assigned to and accessed from within a program. In the following examples, we will use the variable “x”.

The number of people who have been bitten by a crocodile.

We can store a number in a variable by assigning it to the variable. When we read the value of , we can obtain the number. In the following example, we assign 3 to the variable in order to be able to get the value of the variable, but we need to have the variable 3 which has been assigned to be able to read the value of the number.

The data in a variable in a program is stored from the beginning of the program to the end. The data stored in a variable is usually made of two parts: the value of the variable itself and the variable name. When we assign the value of a variable to a variable , the variable is read and the value is stored in the memory.
