The US Industry Will Continue to Hurt

It seems that China is going to buy up billions of dollars worth of American technology so that they can use as cheap labour in China as possible while at the same time using US companies to provide cheap raw material.

For tech companies, it helps Beijing if Congress holds new bills that make it possible to share advanced tech. The US industry will continue to hurt, though. Read the full article on Slashdot.

I was an avid collector of the earliest issues of Computer Power magazine and was in the middle of reading through them when I was interrupted by the recent publication of The Tech Bill. I have no idea what prompted this story but I can only assume that this is what prompted my current obsession. I think you’ll be happy to hear that you’re not the only person in the US who has been distracted by this issue. I have no doubt that it’s just a coincidence but I thought I’d have a little fun with you all.

The problem with the US is that they are so focused on the Chinese market that they just keep on keeping on with the same old tech. The last thing they need, to be honest, is a new piece of software from an Asian company making a breakthrough in performance.

I had read the article and was really impressed by the ideas it came up with but, if I were the US, I would be more concerned about something like this. In my mind, this is an existential threat to the US.

The main problem I see is that technology that is going to make life easier for the American consumer will be made for a Chinese market; they are not going to sell these things for themselves. The problem, for me, is that the American consumer is going to put them in their shopping cart at a store, and be upset that they can’t use this amazing technology at home when their own company is making them a more powerful computer.

Another problem, for me, is that the American consumer is going to be upset. If the US stops being able to do new things, we’ll stop becoming the world’s tech powerhouse.

Just some thoughts, but I have to say that the US is going to need to start being more innovative as a country. I think China can do it. We need to start thinking more innovative because technology is what really keeps us making the big decisions.

Do U.S. Tech Companies Undermine China?

Computer Hardware, Issue #2, February 1999.

executive claims Chinese companies are “undermining the American economy. executive—an engineer from General Electric in Japan—describes how China is exerting an influence on U. foreign policy and industries by buying U. technology products. The general manager of this company explains that the U. has become too dependent on Chinese technology, and is losing control of its own development. “The government’s inability to control the industry, and the U. business, has become a big stumbling block on our way of doing business,” he says.

The company’s American executives are concerned about the direction of U. technology, which they believe has been corrupted by the Chinese. “We have an awful lot of American technology here, but we don’t have control over it,” says the engineer. He compares the attitude of the Chinese to that of Adolf Hitler when Germany sought to dominate the Anglo-American economy in the 1930s. “You don’t need to have the right technology to be successful in the U. business,” he reasons.

The Chinese government itself is also concerned about the direction of American technology. “They’ve become paranoid,” says the employee. “They are constantly worrying about what they are doing.

China’s influence over American technology, the engineer states, threatens to become a major threat to U. “We in America are always telling them we are going to give them what they want, but they make it their own. The American government, the United States government is afraid of this influence by the Chinese.

executive argues that many American companies, particularly software suppliers, are being influenced by the Chinese government to design and produce products that are inferior to their own. “We see it in computer software where the Chinese have become so successful, but our American products are inferior to them.

PhD-level scientist and Google software engineer, Dan Coats, is a former deputy commissioner of the U. Federal Communications Commission. His job is to make sure the government stays “at the forefront of technological innovation,” according to his official biography.

In that job, Coats became part of a team that created what is now the most widely used and ubiquitous wireless network in the world — the Internet. He worked on it for eight years, and he led the team that set in motion the birth of the Internet.

But, as he told a group of reporters at the Computer History Museum just one week after he walked away from the FCC, he’s more concerned about his public image than he is about his work.

“In the last year, I’ve become more interested in what people think of the last person who works there who has a PhD and is not an elected official or public official,” he said during a meeting with reporters. “And I’ve become more interested in what we’ve done for the last 10 years.

Citing his “deeply held belief” that the Internet will be “the most important technological innovation we have ever made,” Coats has been asked to head the new Google, or Alphabet, since he left the FCC in April. The Google people want him to succeed them and, in addition to making Google better, have said they would use Coats to “mimic a few of the key features” of the company.

When asked about his future, Coats — who’s still involved at Google, and has started his own company called Brain. ai — said he is still focusing his efforts on the Internet, whether that means building a search engine that would enable the Web to be more useful to humans, or a mobile app that would be like a smartphone.

He said that in the end, his main goal is still improving the Web for the public. And, as we have seen in our own, more tech-focused media, Coats said the first big goal is to make the Web more useful to humans.

Google’s mission, he said, is to make the Web “a more useful thing for people.

A conversation with Vickers and Winnefeld.

The story is told that an Englishman and a woman visited a factory town where the most costly piece of machinery is a small, simple typewriter. The Englishman’s daughter was reading a newspaper on the front page the Englishman had brought home from his country, when the daughter asked her father why a typewriter could cost so much. The father was puzzled by the question, but his daughter answered, “Well, you see, typewriters were invented by the German. ” The Englishman and the woman did not know that the daughter, the mother, and her sister were German.

This is how the typewriter came about. It was a little device, the type of machine which was first invented in Germany. The thing was so complicated that it required many hands and many fingers. But it was a great wonder how it could make so many marks without being broken, and from the first there was a great demand for the machine.

And then there were the typewriters. The Englishman and the woman came to the factory where the typewriters were made and saw them. They were the greatest marvel the town had ever seen.

By 1850, large numbers of typewriters were made in Germany. By 1884, more than 4,000 were in existence. There were more than 300 plants and workshops throughout Germany, employing more than 600,000 hands.

This is the story which our own world is told: that machines were invented in the most modern country and in the most famous city. But a great wonder arose, for machines had been made in every country except Germany, and for every town.

When Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb, he was the only inventor who came from a country in which human beings had not worked for a long time.
