Applications of Application Performance Management.

Article Title: Applications of Application Performance Management | Computer Networking.

In this paper, we present new applications management frameworks for the distributed systems. We provide two different approaches to achieve a high availability of applications in a distributed systems: a fault-tolerant strategy and a distributed strategy. Both the strategies employ the idea of Application Performance Management (APM) to achieve high availability. We also provide some research results on these two approaches. The paper also explores the scalability of the two strategies, and shows how they have different scalability characteristics.

This paper provides the details of the two main application management applications in the distributed systems. The first is the Open Virtual Cluster (OVC) application management framework of the distributed system. The second is the Distributed Application Performance Management (DAPM) application management framework, which extends the OVC framework to handle the distributed system environment. Both the software applications support application performance management including performance and availability management. The performance management aspects are addressed in the DAPM framework and the availability management aspect was addressed in the OVC framework. The performance management applications are developed using the application performance management framework for the distributed systems.
