The Arizona Diamondbacks: Josh Rojas

We’ve covered Josh Rojas for much of the summer, and his debut with the Washington Nationals is no different. He’s shown up to the ballpark every day in search of a ticket for Friday night’s game, which could be his first appearance in a uniform that’s seen a drastic change for the D’Backs. Instead of the short, tight black jumpsuit that he wore when he made his MLB debut last season, Rojas wore a white jacket and blue jeans when he made his first trip to Washington earlier this month.
Before that debut, Rojas spent time with the New York Mets, the New York Yankees, and the Florida Marlins. Then the D’Backs put him on a pitching journey with the Mariners, the Diamondbacks, and the San Diego Padres last month.
The Mariners were aggressive with their offer, but the Diamondbacks were more cautious. They talked with Rojas about their offer and then showed him the video that the Diamondbacks have done. When the Mariners called, the D’Backs showed the Mariners what they look like and what they want from Rojas. When the Diamondbacks called, the D’Backs showed them what they were like to Rojas. It’s a good sign for Rojas, and it shows what the D’Backs really want from him as well. The D’Backs are a good team that has had a very good offseason, and they think that Rojas is going to be a part of that.
The Diamondbacks’ front office has done a great job with Josh, and it’s good to see that they’re putting the effort in.
I was actually pretty excited about going to the United States. I had been there for the past three years and I wanted to go back there. They haven’t really been able to show the fans anything like what they did in Washington and Arizona. They’ve had their season ticket prices increase and their stadium has gotten a completely new look. They look really good in there when they’re on and playing.
I was on my way to Arizona to play for the Mariners.

Inflating Ross’ Game Logs by Two Horrible Starts

But overall, his season has not been pretty. In 74 1/3 innings pitched, Ross has finished 4. FIP and allowed a high 37. 8% Hard Hit Rate He has also been a frequent victim of the long ball, and has conceded 1. 6 HR/9 for opposing batters. Nevertheless, while Ross has been wildly inconsistent over the course of the season, he has also been pitching much better recently. He has allowed zero earned runs in three of his last four starts. The other: five earned runs in five innings When we dive deeper into Ross’ game logs, we find that his season numbers are actually heavily inflated by two horrid starts in which he has conceded 18 combined earned runs over 8 1/3 innings.
I haven’t been following the Yankees/Dodgers series since Game 3 of the ALDS went to extras. I was a little disappointed.
I had hoped to see more of Clayton Kershaw and his brilliant postseason showing, but I also thought he had the potential to be an MVP contender in a playoff series and I thought they would be able to get one more run out of him in Game 7. I had hoped for another innings of Kershaw pitching, but I figured there was a very good chance that it would be another inning of him walking the hitters. Not with my optimism.
I did not expect a Game 7 in the ALDS. The D’s have been very consistent this season; they have been a dominant team since the start of September 4th, and they will continue this trend as they face off against the Yankees, who seem to have a lot of confidence in themselves. And they will have the benefit
of a much larger lineup.
But the Yanks are a different proposition. When they lost to the Astros last October, they were not the team to beat. They were a team who were good against the Astros, but not good against the Angels in particular. Since then, they have won four series against the Angels, and they are one of the favorites to defeat the Yanks in this series.
But for this series, they want to prove that they still can win against the Yankees, even if it is against the Yankees. Because they have the better record, they know they are the better team, and they will get the benefit of a better lineup in this series, that will help them get closer to the playoffs, or even close to the playoffs.
The Yanks have had their problems; the most obvious was that they were not as good as their record justified. And they are well aware that they need to get better, as they have for the last 10 years.
But the Yankees are not as good as they have been in recent years. They won a World Series against the Phillies in 2005. They won a World Series against the Red Sox in 2006. They won a World Series against the Blue Jays in 2013. And they only lost one series against the Red Sox in the last nine years. They have been a team, one that is a part of the larger Yankees/Boston club with David Niedyck of the Red Sox.
