Nintendo has released what appears to be a firmware update for its new Nintendo Switch console.
We’ve seen this before, and it’s always a good sign.
It’s a sign that the company has learned from its mistakes, and it’s a sign that Nintendo is going to have to do a lot more about its online service and the way it deals with customer support.
Today’s firmware release comes several days after Nintendo released an online update in Japan that it hopes to have available in the United States in another few days’ time.
The update is designed to fix issues the company saw running in the Nintendo Switch Online Service on March 31.
We’ll have to wait for our analysis of both the patch and the update itself to see what sort of improvements they might have.
Our hope is that the update will address some of the issues that caused the service to go offline as a result of Nintendo’s March 31 patch.
But there’s a lot more work to come as we look at the update.
UPDATE: As of this morning, Nintendo has said it is still working on the update. It’s currently unknown if the fix will be ready in time for the launch of the console next week, or if the patch will be delayed.
