Howard Stevens to remember

The Best ever of Howard Stevens.

Since its inception in the early 1950s, Howard Stevens has had an established and recognizable career as a computer hardware designer and installer. The success he achieved with the early and best computer hardware during the late 1950s and early 1960s has kept his name in demand even now.

He had a successful career in a variety of areas, but his early career with the early and best computer hardware was perhaps the biggest success. The best ever computer hardware, for his generation, consisted of a VCS/SCSI card in the IBM PC-XT personal computer, the first truly computerized digital computer, a video tape recorder, a tape recorder with a sound output, and a printer. His initial design of the VCS/SCSI cable had become the standard cable by the time he left in the mid 1960s.

The early computer hardware success had also included the first computerized video game in the 1960s, and the first computerized system for home use. Stevens’s early work with the original IBM PC-XT included the first IBM PC with a VCS/SCSI card in the case.

The success Stevens had with this early and best computer hardware has made him the first ever person to be inducted in the National Designating Council of the Computer Hardware Hall of Fame. (Although the induction ceremony is still occurring, the awards program has been reduced to just one nomination and one election. ) The award is named after him.

Steve Cook, the current Computer Hardware Hall of Fame nominee, also worked at IBM and at other computer hardware companies, including Hewlett-Packard. He was elected in his own right in 1997, but the nomination was re-nominated in 2001, and the award was re-examined during the nomination period. He was finally awarded the Award in 2003.

He started his career at a company called Bell Telephone Laboratories around 1953, designing a telephone system for Bell Telephone Company’s system. This early career also includes some of the first computerized video games, the first commercially available computerized video program, the first computerized movie, and the first computerized movie.
