The first time I’m posting something like this, the author of this article is Mr. Mark Baker (aka The Geek Guy) and I haven’t seen very much about his topic. He’s a well-known and well-respected security researcher and he’s shared on numerous security subreddits, forums, etc. Many users have also sent me links to articles on How to free up space on computer. I’ve written this article as well because I’m still learning about this topic.

Many people have asked me “how to free space on computer” and “how to put less disk space on my hard drive”. I’ve answered it’s as simple as follows.

There’s an option to create new partitions, if you don’t have enough space on your hard drive.

You can put less files on your hard drive by using a program called Partition Magic.

I’m giving you an example of this article to help you understand. I’m posting this article on my blog because I wanted to share it with both the security and the users’ end.

Bug fixes and security holes woven from Windows Update

It’s not often that I write a blog post about a Windows update but this one is one of those times. I recently made a list of the many fixes and improvements that came with Windows 8, the next version of Windows. I’ve since learned that I only just finished writing this post because I had no idea what I was going to write about. That’s right, it’s the same old list of Windows 8 security and bug fixes that I had written about before. And, in one fell swoop, it’s a very, very complete list. But, there’s something I wish I’d said before I started the list.

I started work on this list while waiting at the airport in Dallas, Texas, for my flight to Chicago. I was planning to write a post detailing many of the security and bugfixes in Windows 8 but I couldn’t find a free, online article that I felt was useful enough to write my own. There were so many security holes and so many bugs out there, and I wanted a list that was written with the focus on the security flaws. So, I wrote just about everything I saw or heard and used my personal Windows 8 to view them.

Some of these are extremely simple things that aren’t worth writing a separate article about, or are things that are very common to many PCs. And some of them involve something that I only use once and then never have to do.

If you plan to use Windows 8 for the first time, you should probably use these in addition to the Windows 8 security guides that Microsoft has made available for download. And, if you use Windows RT, you should probably use these in addition to the Windows RT security guides that Microsoft has also made available for download.

Windows 8’s security fixes and improvements are broken down into two categories: Windows security improvements and Windows bug fixes. The Windows security improvements category contains many of the basic security improvements in Windows 8 that Windows 7 users no longer need to worry about. I’ll refer to them by the Windows security improvement name. There are new security improvements, such as Windows Defender and Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, as well as some security mitigations that have been around for a long time.
