The software is being produced as one-year training and evaluation materials and will soon be available for sale for commercial purposes and for research purposes. The software was designed and developed to simulate and quantify oral and facial tissue response to all implants, implants placed as a result of tissue damage from disease, or other situations. The software provides information and visualizations that will permit the dentist or dentist-in-training to better understand the biomechanical characteristics and microstructure of a prepared natural tooth in a laboratory setting. It also provides the dentist with valuable feedback on potential issues that could arise during the placement of an implant and on the possible problems that may come about due to the use of the implant. These problems can be addressed with the assistance of the software tool and information contained in the tool. This software is being created from a multi-disciplinary team including dental anatomists, oral surgeons, bio-engineers, and computer science engineers and scientists.
