A new Forbes listing of the richest self-made Indian American has been released, with five Indians named among the top 20. All five men were born in the 1960s/70s. According to the Forbes report, “With a net worth of US$3. 7 billion, Michael Arvin, the co-founder of Amazon. com, joined the top 10 list of richest self-made American Indians in 2019. ” Among the Indian entrepreneurs on this list, Vishwas Jha, who sold a video game company to Electronic Arts, sits at the seventh position. “The fifth spot is held by Harshad Mehta, a businessman who founded Wipro, a global technology company. ” Michael Arvin, who is chairman of Amazon is second, after Michael Dell. “The fourth richest Indian American is B. ” Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who was one of the founding fathers of India, sits at number three, with a net worth of US$1. “The second highest Indian American is Jayant Sinha, co-founder of a technology company, Oasis Media. ” Jayant Sinha, who is president of Oasis Media, ranks only number 11 (his net worth is US$3. 8 billion according to Forbes).

Editor’s note: As this article was being written, Sangeetha Balasubramaniyam — an Indian American woman of Indian extraction, with two of her two sisters living in the United States — had her second birthday.
“It’s been an uphill battle,” she said recently from a home in New York City. “This is the biggest challenge. It’s been tougher than I imagined it would be.
Sangeetha Balasubramaniyam has been running her own financial advisory business since 1995, earning a salary as high as $150,000 per year. Her husband, Bhaskar, manages the business, and his two American-born children help with the day-to-day running.
But the business is still an uphill battle for Sangeetha and her mother, who in the past two years has come to New York from India to help with the business.
Balasubramaniyam’s father was born of Indian parents in Kerala in the southern state of Kerala, which has long had a large population of Indian immigrants from all over the country. She grew up in a small city in northern Kerala, and as a child she went to schools in Mumbai, and later in New Delhi, where she studied English. In India, she received her secondary education, and later enrolled in the business school at the University of Mumbai, which took her to India and Japan.
It wasn’t until after college that she decided to start her own financial advisory business.

One of the biggest challenges right now is the rise of the concept of “digital” itself. Companies around the world are looking at this as the next frontier and are creating solutions for it. It is a complex and evolving concept. Right now India may be in a period where even the most basic product of digital may be on-premise but it will need a platform to run on. It needs to be a platform that needs to accommodate multiple use cases. The technology needs to serve multiple use cases. There could be the core application being digital, and then there could be a bunch of other use cases that are digital but need to talk to physical devices. These devices are a requirement to address multiple use cases.
The second big challenge is the rise of data. There is a lot of data out there. We have millions of users on Facebook and a lot of work is done by third parties trying to access that data. There is a lot of noise in that data.
