Securities Fraud Class Actions against DiDi Global Inc. (NYSE: DIDI).

DIDI Global Inc. (NYSE: DIDI) announced today that it filed securities fraud class actions in federal district court in New York against DiDi Global Inc. (NYSE: DIDI).

“DIDI has engaged in a massive campaign of fraud that took over $300 million from our shareholders,” said Greg H. Martin, Director of Corporate Investigations for the Securities and Exchange Commission. “We remain committed to filing our SEC filings online in a timely manner.

“We have been proactive in our filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, taking them online. While the SEC has put tremendous pressure on company management to submit SEC filings online, they have not been effective in that regard. We hope, however, that with the assistance of our law firm, and the increased level of scrutiny from the SEC, that we will be successful in our effort,” continued Martin. “Our plan is to have our SEC filings in a timely manner. While we remain committed to filing our SEC filings online, we have been proactive in taking necessary steps in this regard. We also believe that the SEC’s request for additional steps (to include a request to require companies to submit updates to their SEC filings by notifying investors of these SEC filings in an electronic format) is legitimate.

According to Martin, in addition to filing the lawsuit, which targets Didi’s failure to disclose the existence of certain material defects in certain of its financial statements, Didi has also engaged legal counsel, and is in the process of engaging in a voluntary stockholder vote to elect a class representative, to replace Martin in the capacity of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Lead Counsel.

“We are also actively working with the Commission to resolve other issues that have arisen in connection with this case. We expect our work will be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2017.

Tips of the Day in Network Security

Network security is one of those things that people are scared of. It’s hard to be a security expert when dealing with a big, bad, zero-day exploit. It is hard, too, to be a security expert who has never been breached. A new paper published by the Network Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University makes a solid argument for why the vulnerability in today’s networks is so much more serious than it’s been portrayed by the headlines.

The paper, published August 9 in the Journal of Network and Computer Security, looks at the so-called “elevated risk” issue, a term that has been thrown around and misunderstood in recent years. The idea that something of the “staggering impact” is often associated with a security vulnerability has now been largely discredited and, in recent years, has been replaced by the “elevated risk” concept.
