Achieving the highest level of interactivity in displays with embedded software is usually very expensive, and also, often, impossible. The cost of custom software systems will usually set the overall price of the display and the display itself. But, it is more than just the cost of the custom software component that we have to pay: sometimes, an expensive display will have the same or even worse performance as a cheaper model. A well-optimized standard display, especially to the point of achieving the highest level of interactivity possible, is an item that many brands and developers will look for. But as such, any such display will first have to test its own performance and its usability to ensure that it can support the maximum number of people and devices. For this purpose, an interactive display is crucial. For such a display to truly be truly interactive, it has to have the capability of generating different user-interactive experiences each time a user pushes a button. This brings the price back to the same level as the standard model we have just discussed. But for all their efforts, these manufacturers will lose the opportunity to take advantage of custom software systems as well. For this reason, the display manufacturers are looking into alternative ways of achieving true interactivity. Avocor provides one such solution for all display designs that have embedded software. It offers an entirely new and completely interactive solution. Avocor’s display designs are available for many popular devices.

All-in-one displays are the most common kind of displays. There are also displays that combine displays and hardware, such as tablet PCs (reviewed in Ref. 1): these displays are normally called a system display. Usually, all-in-one displays are made of a single piece of glass that can be shattered in order to present multiple views of a common object. It is then easy to connect several displays and connect them together; such interfaces are sometimes referred to as a multi-display or multi-view solutions. Multi-view solutions are often very easy to make if the various displays are already positioned in such a way that it is easy to connect them. But they also require two or more physical connections at the moment when a user actually wants to place one or more of them together.

Avocor products are used in a broad range of settings such as business and education for collaboration purposes. The Avocor G series provides various user interfaces (UI), with and without the use of collaboration tools. As an edge to edge display, the Avocor G-series can incorporate all aspects of business collaboration within an enterprise. This chapter describes the Avocor G-series, its interface, as well as its applications for collaboration.

Displays of the Avocor G Series

This is the software that I use for some of my personal projects, and I thought it may be useful to post here.

A few things need to be established before I can talk about software. I need to have a minimum of three things clear.

My first thought was a spreadsheet. I could add the names of the people I wanted to pay in my account each month to a spreadsheet that I would enter each month. I could then print out the payees’ account numbers to easily enter them in the spreadsheet. However, I decided this was too simple, and I decided it made more sense to use a simple tool that was already available, that has a spreadsheet feature, at a very affordable price.

Software isn’t always as simple as it seems. The Avocor G Series makes it very simple to create, edit, and print out Excel spreadsheets for one-page spreadsheets for very affordable prices. When I was first looking at this software, it was available in an Office 97-format spreadsheet, but later I discovered that the version in Office 2002 was much more powerful, and at a slightly higher price. As it turns out, however, that version is no longer available, due to a limitation in the program’s feature set.

This is also the year in which I began my second degree in Computer Support.

For the purposes of this article, I will work exclusively in Excel 2002.

To use the software I need only have the computer open, and the document open, and the spreadsheet in front of me open.

When I open the spreadsheet, I quickly check to make sure it’s open, and then I click on File > Save As. There is an option to Save as “Excel 2003” or “Excel 2003/2007” depending on the version of Office you currently have installed. If you don’t have that version installed, you will be able to select one of the available options.

I click the Save As option, and I tell Excel what I want the file to look like. I can do this by clicking on a template that already exists, and then selecting File > Save As.
