Fatty Crash on Hwy 97 -- Deschutes County - 07/04/21

Fatty Crash on Hwy 97 — Deschutes County – 07/04/21

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office has been searching for the driver of a Honda Accord with no rear license plate and no front license plate after the car crashed on Hwy 97 in central Deschutes County on Monday, July 4. The car slid off the highway and into the median near the intersection of Hwy 99 and West Bend Roads. The officer stopped the Honda and found that the car was registered to a passenger who was taken by ambulance and is in the hospital. According to the officer, the passenger had no recollection of driving. The officer also noticed that the engine was warm and the gear shift was not in park. The driver of the other car, a white Ford Mustang, pulled alongside of the Honda and tried to engage the driver side tire instead of the passenger side tire. The Mustang also had no front license plate. The officer asked the occupants of the Mustang to come out of the car so that a deputy could examine both the Mustang and the Honda. He also asked the occupants if there were drugs in the car. The occupants, including the driver, admitted that there were. They were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department, the passenger also admitted that there were drugs in the Honda and they were on the hood. The driver of the Honda denied that there were drugs in the car. An accident reconstruction deputy was on scene and told the driver and the passengers to stay in the car and that he would be there in a few minutes. After a short time, the driver emerged, still in the car, with an object that resembled a handgun and said he had a gun on his person. The driver stated to the deputy that he had gotten into the Honda from the westbound lane of I-90 and had not driven off the roadway nor did he have any idea or knowledge of the presence of the gun. He further stated that he was the passenger and that he did not know that he was not driving. The deputy noted that it was a dark rainy afternoon with a foggy air. The driver and the driver’s passenger both stated that they had been drinking and the driver said he had been drinking for two days or maybe three. The driver also stated that he had been under the influence of alcohol during the early morning hours of Monday before the crash.

Oregon Wildfire Mobile Morgue operations: lessons learned and preparation for future mass fatality response - Report.

Oregon Wildfire Mobile Morgue operations: lessons learned and preparation for future mass fatality response – Report.

One of the most common ways that media and disaster relief organizations seek to reach people affected by natural disasters is through the organization of mobile disaster response units (MRDUs) who use the Internet to disseminate information and disaster relief information (RFI-4). The media and disaster relief organizations hope that MRDUs will bring the community together, enabling them to share experiences, concerns, and plans for emergency response.

The objectives of the MRDU system are to help provide early alerts for disaster related disasters, provide information for community members, allow for rapid disaster response planning, provide a communications platform for affected communities, and to provide a mechanism for local community members to share their concerns over natural and man-made disasters.

The MRDUs are being deployed now both in the United States and in other countries for responding to natural disasters, particularly since it was first recognized that disaster responses can provide lessons for other disaster response systems and that MRDUs can be an efficient tool for providing relief to individuals in disaster areas and providing real-time information (RFI-4).

MRDUs have been operational in many disaster areas, including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Puerto Rico, Thailand, the US, and Ukraine, and they are now being deployed as part of the “Pentagon for the Global War on Terrorism” (Pentagon) disaster response force in Iraq.

While MRDUs are not a new concept in disaster relief, MRDUs are currently being used to assess the severity, risk of injury and exposure to smoke at evacuation centers, hospitals, emergency care centers, shelters, and disaster shelters. The MRDUs provide a mechanism for distributing information of this type.

The US military, and other nations, have also used MRDU systems for distributing information about the threat of chemical and biological warfare, particularly as a means of providing evacuation sites and medical care for people affected by chemical and biological warfare.

The lessons that the MRDUs have learned include the need to have a well-prepared and trained organization with experienced and trained personnel who would provide the relief and assistance necessary for the community to be ready for natural disasters.

Tips of the Day in Programming

Most of today’s programming tips focus on coding for machines, but I have this in to share with you that while machines are good for programming, there is something infinitely more important when it comes to programming.

For what it’s worth, I’m working on trying to code for humans, a project for the future. I’ve been working on building a very simple human-computer interface (HCI).

I had a pretty good idea of what I had to do, but one of the things that I had done was actually making a program that would do this “human interface” for me.

For the love of everything holy, I tried to use human language, but I couldn’t. I wanted to tell it to say “Hello” “Goodbye” “Thank you” and all sorts of things, but it didn’t seem to be able to do that.

Well, my project didn’t make any progress, so I thought to myself, If I can’t build a machine that does this, no machine will ever do it.

So I got a new machine, a Mac Mini. I decided to give my idea a try.
