Tips of the Day in Network Security
The Networking Security Forum at NSSEC, a security conference in Austin Texas, is always an interesting conference. For the first two days I attended the session “Threatened Network Security: A Primer” by a former Networking Administrators Association president. The session was focused on the use of IP address spoofing as a form of denial-of-service on a network.
The general topic of the session, one of the topics I covered in my original Q&A session at the conference, which is available here, was the use of attack techniques to disrupt a network. In this particular case, IP address spoofing, a technique that can be extended to other forms of network disruption, was discussed in the context of denial-of-service attacks.
NSSEC is a very small, intimate security conference focusing on specific topics related to networking.
