A major initiative of the IIM-N, which started in September last year and aims to develop a new generation of higher education institutions in India, has hit a road block. The Indian School of Mines (ISM) plans to roll out 8 new PG courses on its own till September 2021, but the proposal has been rejected by the Central government, the IIM-N said on Wednesday. Read the Press Release here. The reason, according to the IIM-N, is a need to increase the number of students pursuing the B. Tech courses and the curriculum, and there isn’t enough space at the private institutions they have planned to add PG courses. At the present rate, there will be no more PG courses in all the universities from which the ISM selects. The IIM-N has been in the process of planning this initiative since 2016, and after the results were announced, they held a survey to find out what students thought about how the new PG courses should be presented and studied. While it seems that the IIM-N has not been able to convince the top private schools to join its initiative, we hope that this initiative will eventually get a go.
The IIM-N is seeking to develop 12 new engineering and technology universities and colleges, starting July 2019 and aiming to create one million new seats by 2022. The proposed new universities and colleges will be managed by an independent board. There are five departments within the university. The new universities will have departments from sciences to management studies, business, management, engineering, computer science and engineering, economics, education, education administration, law, law, communication, and communication. The new higher education institutions are expected to have 1,500 plus faculty members in addition to an independent board. The new colleges are expected to have 200 faculty members and more than 500 students. While the government hopes to attract 500 private universities to join the initiative and the IIM-N hopes to attract 500 private engineering and technology institutions to join the initiative, the IIM-N has now told the Centre that it will not be able to compete with institutions from the private sector since the number of seats they have is in excess of the demand.
The IIM-N has already started its pilot project on its current campus to enroll 500 engineering students.

This paper describes a certificate course in cyber security and data analysis, given in Austin, Texas on May 21, 2015, under the auspices of the University of Texas at Austin Cyber Security Training Initiative (CSTI). The CSTI is a two-year, online computer science and engineering degree program designed to provide in-depth training in the fundamentals of the Cyber Security and Network Security (C-SNS) domain. In this paper, we describe the CSTI certificate course in cyber security and data analysis.
There is no curriculum framework for the CSTI certificate course, however a curriculum was developed by the CSTI Steering Committee, which consisted of representatives from academia and industry, among others \[1,2\]. The curriculum is available upon request, and details regarding the CSTI course are available upon examination of the CSTI syllabus and final exams. The program is offered in both online and on-campus courses, such that students are taught by CSTI faculty and/or instructors from the campus.
The CSTI certificate course utilizes a suite of online courses with each course taught by a faculty member. The CSTI syllabus also includes a description of the CSTI faculty. In addition, each faculty member develops a unique syllabus for each CSTI course.
