The security service of Ukraine (KGB), together with the security service of the Russia (SDGR), opened a new window on the cyber war campaign of Russia in Crimea. The security service of Ukraine is using cyberattacks using the Crimean platform (platform for mass dissemination of information). In an interview, Ikhailo Andonichuk, head of the security service of Ukraine, declared that this channel of Russian propaganda is based on the Crimean platform, which was revealed by the security service of Russia and that it is an army of Russian bots. For this purpose, the security service of Ukraine published the transcripts of its investigation and the recording of a conversation between the head of the security branch of Russia, Sergey Naryshkin and the head of the security service of Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, in which it is revealed that the security services of Ukraine and Russia are working together to set up a new cyber war platform which will be used to carry out propaganda efforts against Ukraine and the West. There are indications that it will be used for disinformation and war propaganda.

The Security Service of Ukraine: “We have received information from a source that the Crimean platform, which was found on the Internet last year in the Crimea region as a result of the initiative of security services of Ukraine and Russia, is now used for the propaganda of the Russian armed forces and their information operations. And, in response to the information, we opened an internal investigation. We found that this platform is used for spreading a variety of disinformation and information operations designed to influence the political and social situation in Ukraine and, in particular, in Crimea. The investigation led us to believe that it is intended as an army of Russian bots for the mass dissemination of information.

According to the information we received that a number of Russian bots are involved in running the Crimea platform, the investigation was conducted by our security service.

Investigating the electronic payment system in Ukraine.

Investigating the electronic payment system in Ukraine.

Computers for the public (c) 2012 IEEE.

The article describes the electronic payment system in Ukraine developed by the National Computer Center. The system has been developed in order to facilitate the payment of the country’s social security contributions and to allow Ukraine to contribute to the development of the public computing sector.

1 Background. Financial transactions with electronic money are not yet common in Ukraine, because of the lack of experience with electronic money and the complexity of the payments, as well as security issues, both of which are necessary for the implementation of such payments.

2 Background. The National Computer Center of Ukraine has developed a payment system using electronic money and the IT department of the federal state of Ukraine has implemented it over a number of years. The technical and economical requirements of the system were analyzed by various specialists, and the technical and economical feasibility of the system was assessed by a number of experts. The requirements of the system are set out in the program for the project “Computer system for electronic payments”.

3 Background. The National Computer Center of Ukraine has developed an electronic payment system based on e-currency and electronic money. The system has been developed in order to facilitate payment of the country’s social security contributions, to allow Ukraine to contribute to the development of the public computing sector, and to make the public information system available in the field of electronic commerce and for the development of the electronic payment system.

The search for unauthorized interference in Crimea Platform

The search for unauthorized interference in Crimea Platform

Unauthorized interference, which often is done by non-state actors, in an attempt to influence, disrupt or manipulate official processes, especially in the field of a foreign country. The most frequent of such techniques include espionage, hacktivism and sabotage. A third type of unauthorized interference, which can be categorized under the term cyber-espionage, is the infiltration of computers and networks belonging to another party, which can have the goal of compromising the security of the targeted computer system. A fourth method of unauthorized interference in the Crimea is the interference of electronic devices belonging to the armed forces of a foreign state. The third type of espionage in general consists of the exploitation of social networks. In the third type of electronic espionage, social networks are used as a mechanism to acquire and exploit information, although they can also contain other types of information. The fourth type of electronic espionage involves devices which are used by the armed forces of another state. The fourth type of cyber-espionage is directed to the military services and has the goal of obtaining the information needed to carry out a military operation. The cyber-espionage on Russian-led forces in Ukraine can be classified as cyber-espionage, in the same way as the Russian-led forces in Crimea can be classed as cyber-espionage. The cyber-espionage is carried out in three key methods: hacking, sabotage and cyber espionage. In an effort to carry out cyber-espionage against the armed forces of a foreign state, information is obtained using hacking methods. For example, using Trojans to attack the Russian military and military computers by creating Trojan- viruses that are loaded onto the computers of the Russian armed forces. Other techniques, such as installing software on computers that are used by the Russian armed forces, can also be used to obtain information on military operations. The cyber-espionage on the armed forces of Ukraine can be classified as cyber-espionage and the cyber-espionage on Ukrainian troops can be classified as cyber-espionage. In both cases, the information obtained can then be used to carry out cyber-attacks on the armed forces of another state. The fourth type of cyber-espionage is the systematic disruption of electronic systems, which can also be carried out by hacking or damaging systems.

Tips of the Day in Computer Hardware

The past few weeks have been relatively quiet on the IT scene, but the past few months have been pretty full of open source projects. This post, based on Open Source Hardware Quarterly, summarizes some of the most interesting and notable projects that are based on the web of ideas that have resulted from the Open Compute Project (OCP), a nonprofit organization comprised of hardware hackers.

Open Hardware is a movement of hardware enthusiasts who believe that it is possible to build innovative, creative products from the ground up and that they can be a powerful source of new revenue generating opportunities. According to the Open Compute Project (OCP), the goal of Open Hardware is to create the space for open hardware solutions to thrive, and to “promote and nurture innovative and creative hardware solutions that are relevant and economically worthwhile for their communities.

To celebrate the Open Compute Project’s anniversary, there are some fantastic projects on which the OCP is working to fund and bring to fruition.
