SIGGRAPH 2021 – The Future of 3D and Multidimensional Computing
Abstract: The SIGGRAPH 2021 International Conference on 3D and Multidimensional Computing (IC3D) will be held March 1-4, 2021 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Two days of meetings are planned to ensure that both the current and future SIGGRAPH participants are kept up-to-date. The program committee and the organizers are very proud to present SIGGRAPH 2021 at such a prestigious venue as the Anaheim Convention Center. The topics of this year’s conference are: “Virtual Worlds; The Metaverse: From the Start to the End of the Universe” and “The Future of 3D and Multidimensional Computing: The Way Forward. ” SIGGRAPH 2021 is being hosted by the California Institute of Technology, and will feature contributions from researchers all over the world. Over the course of this conference, we expect to discuss not only a wide range of topics related to 3D and multidimensional computing but also how future technologies such as virtual reality and other emerging fields for visualization will make our lives much more exciting and immersive. This is only possible with the continued advancement of 3D and multidimensional computing and the use of digital media in creating and producing 3D and multidimensional landscapes. There will be several opportunities to meet people from around the world and exchange ideas, build collaborations and promote a global dialogue on the topics of 3D and multidimensional computing. We are looking forward to the wonderful energy and enthusiasm that the conference participants will bring to the conference. The metaverse is the new technological frontier to help us learn and explore the universe. It is also the new frontier for creativity, where the most influential ideas, products and industries are created.

There are currently four major fields of computer science that are directly involved with the development of technologies for the physical world. These are (a) Software, (b) Hardware, (c) AI, and (d) Visualization/Simplification. I will discuss these fields, and the current, past and future state of the art that will be discussed in this paper, in the following two chapters.

It is not a complete review but it is well written and well organized in a logical and methodical way. Many of the articles were first published by professional researchers, but they are published also to the general public as well. It has been translated into several languages.
