I’m a big fan of the OO approach to software development. So much so that in the past I’ve spent my time writing a few OO projects specifically focused on OO, and I think it was really helpful. I don’t really see these kind of projects as a replacement for reading about OO. If you want to learn about OO, read about the OO languages and frameworks. However, to learn about OO techniques and best practices, I think the best way to work with classes and objects, and methods, is to read about classes and objects so that I can know these things on my own.
