As of January, we have been given access to the PC version of Epic Games’ Epic Games Store. In an interview with GamesIndustry International, Epic Games CEO Adam Openfield talked about the game’s features, where they will be coming, whether it’ll be in stores soon, and the beta, which is currently only available in English and French.

Adam Openfield: It’s a real big project. Epic is basically building a giant virtual library of games. I think that we’re at the point where we’re probably at a point where it would be nice to have it all together. The stores themselves are really small pieces that you have to go into the game to see. It’s a really interesting experience.

Adam Openfield: Well, at the moment it’s only for PC, but as you mentioned, we have a bunch of partners that will be able to take it over to mobile as well. We have to find a way to let them share that with their customers. We want to share the data. I don’t really know how to do that. We don’t have the tools we want to put that into games.

GSI: You mentioned two new partners joining the store later this year.

Adam Openfield: They’re actually part of our efforts to get the store to the point where we think that it’s going to be in large, massive, worldwide, store.

Adam Openfield: I’m not able to talk about that. My focus is on doing the work the right way, not about having a timeline. The store itself is a very interesting experience. We are working really hard to make the store and the ecosystem that we have there work as a whole.

A New Suite of Epic Games Store Self-Publishing Tools

Epic Games has the reputation of providing the most comprehensive games distribution catalogs for PC and Xbox 360 *as well as* for Playstation 3 and Playstation 2 games, having been the game distribution catalog source for a number of years. Now with the new partnership with Steam, it has the resources and the desire to bring all of its games to the platform. To this end, the Epic Games Store is now starting to focus the efforts to bring all the games it will ship to the Steam platform. It has partnered with Steam to provide a platform for publishing games for Steam.

The Epic Games Store is the world’s leading independent games distribution catalogue, providing over 20000 titles across all available platforms in the form of Steam-exclusive games and bundles. This partnership has proven to be successful, with over 10,000 games (including 3. 5 million on Steam), as well as over 10% of the top 100 titles. It has a catalog of over 60,000 games, with a unique catalogue of about 60,000 games in its latest release, ‘Destiny’, with over 70% of the top games. Also, it has been shown to distribute games that are not yet available for the platform either due to their copyright issues, as well as for a number of games that are not compatible with its distribution policy.

Tips of the Day in Computer Games

I don’t get many calls. Mostly, it’s that guy who’s got a new game coming out. He’s got it in the pipeline. He can’t wait to announce it and get all excited about the potential of a title he created. But the reality is that I may never get to see it come to life. To be on the receiving end of excitement and anticipation is simply not fair. And there’s no shortage of people in the industry who feel this way.

And that’s fine. There are those that are driven by it, at least in part. In fact, those that are passionate about a title may be a small but important part of the game industry. For that very reason, I’m going to give myself permission to ignore the calls, take a long deep breath, and enjoy the game that’s just recently come out of the oven. Or, at least, that’s what I’m likely to do as long as I can.
