In this article our research aims at understanding the nature of public art and the relationship between public art and live performances that occur in the arts and cultural district of Athens.

The relationship between live performances and public art is not new. One way of dealing with this relationship historically has been to rely on the role of the public as a participant in those performances. For example, the ancient Greeks, in their writings, have often commented on the importance of the public, in order to judge the quality of a performance (and the appropriate response of the audience), to judge the legitimacy of the artist or the art form, and to evaluate the potential value of the art work.

The Greek philosopher Hippocrates, writing about music in the 2nd century B. , referred to the public as ‘the judge of whether music is worth performing’.

However, in the present day, this role of the public as a participant in artistic performances has been replaced by the roles of the artist and the audience, and thus the role of the public has been reduced to that of witness: witness to the events and artworks taking place and witness to the legitimacy of those events and artworks.

In other words, when discussing public art, the relationship between the public and artists is no longer a role of a spectator but rather a role of a witness.

In the field of tourism and arts and culture, the role of the public and the role of the artist has been extensively studied. For example, in the field of music tourism, the role of the public in supporting the production of public art has been investigated. However, this has mainly focused on the production of performance art. More specifically, in the field of theatre, it has been found that the production of theatre has, as a component, a public dimension. The relationship between public art (art with a public dimension) and live performance (performance with an artistic value to the public) has not been studied to the same extent.

In the past 25 years, New York City has transformed itself from a dense mass of low-rise housing to one of the last great cities in the world. And with that, one of every six cars on New York City’s streets has become a transit system.

To experience this transformation for yourself, take a few minutes to visit the Citi Bike NYC site, find the bike route that will match your needs, and register your Citi Bike account. They’ll gladly give you a map to show you around this city of about 20 million people and several hundred thousand bikes.

You’d go to Citi Bike NYC and buy a bike.

If you want to get off the road, it’s a good idea to purchase a bike and share it around city streets. Or bike to other parts of NYC for transportation. Or take a trip to Citi Bike NYC to use Citi Bike’s new service, which lets anyone with a Citi Bike account download and use the program.

If a bike is part of your needs, you can check out the program’s bike system—which lets you buy bikes at locations throughout the city—or just use it for transportation. You can also choose to rent a bike, or use the public bike lockings and docking stations at Citi Bike’s other rental locations. Each bike is either electric or gas-powered.

The bike system shows your bike’s power and your distance covered in a single ride.

The bike system lets you check out your own bike route for a particular purpose: Citi Bike NYC’s route planner lets you search for bikes that fit your needs. Or, in other versions, Citi Bike allows users to see an area’s bike routes, or see the location of a bike you could borrow for transportation, or even to see bike routes around the city.

Citibank makes it easy to connect to the bike system.
